About us

Our Mission

Guided by the slightly inebriated mission statement of one of our founders "Let's be the Robin Hood of beer!" Pool House Beer Company, while not exactly thriving, exists to create what is only to be enjoyed.

Our History

A long time ago several friends sat pondering why good fresh beer was hard to find, especially on tap in the ridiculous quantities they desired while sitting and pondering. "Let us make our own beer!", they said. Not from a kit or syrupy extract, they demanded. No tasteless lager, no! But back to basics brewing to create beer to be enjoyed by those who enjoy beer. So, in brotherhood with brewers everywhere, supported by several millennia of history, they stole advice, infringed copyright, cobbled together equipment, and lifted recipes focused on the creation of the best ales possible from the combination of hops, water, yeast, technique and freshly malted grains. Defiantly they ignored centuries of brewing advice from scholared monks, laughed off the Reinheistgebot as mere German peevishness and properly mocked lagers as watery ghosts of what beer was meant to be. "Go brew ales" they said, and so it was done. From the first ale produced, known affectionately as Donkey Punch, Pool House Beer Company learned to control alcohol levels, tighten up malt profiles, and tame hops to produce beers of freshness, quality and balance to be truly enjoyed by beer drinkers who enjoy drinking beer.
